The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is accepting applications for a Business Consultant / P98052 in the University’s Small Business Technology Development Center (ASBTDC).
The Business Consultant will provide consulting services to Arkansas entrepreneurs with a focus on assisting manufacturing and tech-based firms. The Business Consultant will conduct training and presentations; assist clients with securing alternative sources of funding including Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR); conduct focused technical research and market research to aid clients in planning processes and identifying new markets and maintain client records for program and provide narrative reports. The Business Consultant will work directly with ASBTDC clients to evaluate business operations and assist with improving operation efficiencies and effectiveness; and work collaboratively with ASBTDC market research staff to provide technical assistance to innovation companies.
The Business Consultant will offer business, operational and other consulting services to small and medium-sized businesses, providing strategic assistance and coaching, assessment services, business advice, and hands-on implementation assistance; provide coaching assistance to guide clients through technology commercialization; and travel, as needed, to participate in local, state and national meetings and conferences offered for high-tech entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and researchers. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, industrial management, industrial engineering and management sciences, or related industrial management field. Three years experience in industrial production management which must include at least twelve months in organizing and monitoring performance and quality control throughout the production process.
Successful candidate must have working knowledge of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants/contracts programs as demonstrated by record of participation in at least one SBIR/STTR grant application; must be able to travel an Average 2 travel days per month, approximately 10% of time, primarily to Fayetteville, AR and occasionally Northeast Arkansas for meetings, workshops and conferences; Infrequent national travel to conferences. Must meet Arkansas requirements to operate a vehicle on State business.
