Job Summary:
As a member of the leadership team, this employee ensures that we bring a range of activities, events, speakers and subject matter experts to the BCOA to meet the health and wellness needs of current and new members. This hire ensures that we attract, train, motivate and retain a range of volunteer skills that contribute some 51 % of the capacity that helps the BCOA lead in Aging Services. This mature professional strives in a fast-paced, caring, empowering environment.
Responsibilities:
SUPERVISORY: Supervise all Front Desk staff and volunteers who provide exceptional customer service to members, visitors and community partners. Supervise all Volunteer Greeters tasked with welcoming and assisting visitors and members. Supervise Gift shop Volunteers who $8,000+ in revenues annually to support new programs.
VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT: Recruit, train, mobilize and motivate volunteers that produce 51 % of the staffing capacity at the Center, using documented policies and procedures
EVENTS and ACTIVITIES MANAGEMENT: Hire and support Instructors and Group Leaders for a wide range of health and wellness classes, health and wellness checks, weekly bingo with 50+ players, Knitters and Quilters with 50+ members and more. Primarily manage or support all the details for events with 100 to 200 attendees to include: Yankee Doodle Parade and Booth, Flu Clinic, Veterans Breakfast, Tree Lighting Dinner with the Rotary, Cabot Holiday Lunch (190), Christmas Day Dinner (100), Talent Show (100), and Senior of the Year (250), Billerica Health and Wellness. Plan and manage 12 – 15 group day trips annually for 30-40 members. Manage 7 Billerica Bandstand dance events per year with 50+ attendees. Work with Nutrition Department on 4-5 Lindley Travelling Chef Luncheons annually for groups of 65+.
LEADERSHIP: As a member of the management team attend monthly staff meetings and bi-monthly leadership meetings to help us meet the needs of a growing number of seniors.
Requirements:
College degree or equivalent with at least 3 years of experience in a similar position
Technologically literate with above average skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Create attractive marketing materials/flyers to publicize events, shows etc.
Ability to multi-task and set priorities with ease
Exceptional time and project management skills
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills
Functions efficiently under extremely hectic conditions in a fast-paced environment
Has managed and mobilized over 50 volunteers
Commands respect through a highly professional style
Proven supervisory skills for staff and volunteers
Quick grasp of MySeniorCenter software, an important tool for the function
Some week-end and evening assignments
Hours:
Approximately 30 hours weekly
Salary:
$16.51

Sick leave: 15 working days per fiscal year
Personal Days: 3 per year with pay
Vacation: Five years of service or less: 2 weeks accrued after 6-months probationary period
