This position may be filled at the Transportation Systems Technician I, Grade 14, Salary:  $38,629-$62,768, or Transportation Systems Technician II, Grade 18, Salary:  $45,877-$75,653.

The Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Engineering and Operations, is looking for Transportation Systems Technicians for its Transportation Management Section, Technical Center, at 1283 Seven Locks Road, Building C, Rockville, Maryland.  There are currently four vacancies.

The individual selected for this position will be considered an Essential Employee.  Essential employees must report to work during a period of general emergency or liberal leave.

Employee will be involved in the construction, modification, installation, testing, maintenance and field and bench repair of transportation systems equipment on the ground and from extended heights in a bucket truck.  The employee is required to drive a vehicle to perform work at these locations.  The equipment includes a variety of traffic control, traffic monitoring and traveler information equipment, devices and subsystems (e.g., traffic signals, school flasher signal assemblies, variable message signs, lane control and channelization devices, fiber optic signs, traveler advisory radio system, traffic video surveillance cameras, data transmission techniques and equipment, etc.)
