Responsibilities and Qualifications
The Student Nurse Intern (SNI) works under the supervision of the Manager, Director, Clinical Educator, Clinical Supervisor or designated licensed coworker and is responsible for the delivery of efficient, safe patient care within the scope of practice and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Duties include admission of patients according to hospital policy and assist with activities of daily living (ADL's) to include bathing, dressing and undressing, feeding, positioning, comforting, ambulation, passive range of motion and other activities as necessary. May perform other assigned duties as required. The SNI will work as a Nurse Tech and on SNI shifts will be assigned a nurse preceptor. SNI will practice within the RN scope of practice on these responsibilities. PO medications may be administered under the supervision of an RN. IV medications will not be administered by the SNI, with the exception of IV saline flushes. All interventions within the RN scope of practice is supervised by a licensed nurse within their own scope of practice and competencies. And being the perfect fit for your role requires a specific set of qualifications that you'll bring with you: Education: The Student Nurse Intern must be in their final semester of clinical with an accredited nursing program to be eligible for this position.Certifications: Patient Care Associate (PCA) training and Basic Life Support (BLS) before taking care of patients independently.
