HIM Coder
Responsible for analysis of records and assignment of the correct codes based on documentation by the attending physician. The coder will adhere to the ICD-10 coding conventions, official coding guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) rules established by the American Medical Association, and any other official coding rules and guidelines established for use with mandated standard code sets. The coder supports the department by prioritizing work activities, using time efficiently, and supporting the overall goals and values of McBride Orthopedic Hospital. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully and develops alternative solutions. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
Requires a Degree in Health Information Management, RHIA, RHIT, or CCS Credentials, or the equivalent of fifteen years of experience coding orthopedic records
Preferred: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS.
