TRACK LABORER/MACHINE OPERATOR – BUTLER AND MANLY IOWA
Position requirements:
The Track Laborer is a member of a crew responsible for maintaining, repairing, and replacing rails, ties, switches, and ballast, using hand tools and operating heavy equipment. Duties in this position include but are not limited to: replacing defective ties and rails, correcting deviations in track surface, repairing railroad crossings, clearing brush, vegetation, snow etc. from right-of-way, and loading, unloading and distributing track material.
Applicant must be able to work on and around heavy and moving machinery. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk to accomplish tasks particularly for longer distances. Perform heavy work, lifting/carrying of up to 100 pounds, eye-hand coordination as well as ability to grasp. Responsible for performing duties and working hours as scheduled, including overtime, holidays, nights, weekends and travel as necessary.
The work location will be in both Butler and Manly, Iowa. The work performed (frequently out-of-doors) and the tools and material used in the surrounding work-place, expose the incumbent to the following conditions on a regular basis: weather, noise, vibrations, dust, and pollen. The job requires the individual to follow standard safety procedures, be alert, and take necessary precautions (e.g., wearing/using protective clothes and equipment) to avoid possible injuries.
High school graduate or equivalent required. Must have a valid driver’s license with no more than 3 violations in the last 3 years and no major violations.
